Made an original recipe tonight, and it was so easy and so tasty that it's worth recording.

Gnocchi Alfredo with Ham and Asparagus
1 lb. asparagus, trimmed, cut into bite-size pieces1
1 (1-lb.) package gnocchi2
1 1/2 cups ham, coarsely chopped3
1 14-oz. jar light parmesan alfredo pasta sauce4

Bring a pot of water to boiling. Add the asparagus and the gnocchi. Boil 2-3 minutes or until gnocchi floats to the top. Drain; return to pot. Add the ham and the pasta sauce. Cook over medium heat until heated through. Serves about 4.

Really quite tasty. I enjoyed sprinkling fresh-ground black pepper on mine; Lori enjoyed not sprinkling pepper on hers.

1Asparagus was on sale last week for $0.89/lb--unfortunately, this week it was $2.99.
2We'd bought the gnocchi months ago on sale, and it was about to pass the sell-by date.
3The ham was a leftover from Easter dinner.
4We used Ragu. The light sauce has much less fat and calories, but still cannot be called 'low-fat'.
