We are road-tripping from Pittsburgh to Colorado, to attend a wedding of a high-school friend of Lori's.

As is regrettably typical for us, we got off very late. We didn't manage to get packed and leave our house until 8:45pm on Monday. We got a fast-food dinner at the Waterfront and did some last-minute shopping, and actually got on the road at almost 10pm. We set a modest goal of getting out of Pennsylvania before stopping for the night--we got just into Ohio before stopping.

Today, we set a goal of eating Cincinnati chili for lunch. In order to make a big stretch before lunch, we ate Burger King for breakfast--into every trip a little chain food must fall. (The Cini-Minis were pretty tasty, but came in at about 50 calories per bite.)

We realized that we weren't going to make it to Cincinnati by lunchtime, so we looked for a Roadfood spot called Henry's, west of Columbus. (We're sorry we didn't stop by, [livejournal.com profile] magentamom and [livejournal.com profile] bluelang, but we were so disorganized on this trip that we didn't know ahead of time when we'd make it to Columbus, and we didn't want to show up on your doorstep saying, "Surprise! We're here!"). We didn't find Henry's, but we got a pretty satisfying lunch from a place called Tony's Coneys. The Coney we ate is a hot dog enveloped in a soft bun, accompanied with mustard, a mild chili, and finely chopped onions.

We got to Cincinnati early enough that we weren't really hungry, so we passed up chili and Graeter's ice cream for this trip.

Instead, we went on to Louisville, Kentucky. Our dining for tonight will include two Roadfood restaurants: Kaelin's, where the cheeseburger was invented, and Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen.
