Sep. 9th, 2003 11:54 amThe online game of D&D that I've been playing in has been canceled for yet another week. For a while it's been busy players, but lately it's been a busy GM. From the website of session logs, it looks like we haven't played since late June. I think we may have played once in early July, but the effect remains qualitatively the same.
It makes me feel happy and determined about how well I've done at maintaining my D&D game. There have been some occasional lapses; sometimes when I've felt unprepared, we've had a smackdown or canceled a session. And we've certainly canceled sessions in the face of scheduling conflicts. However, on the whole, I feel we've done an excellent job of maintaining a regular schedule of play.
I think that this rigor has been a good thing for me. It would be very easy for me to say, "I'm not completely prepared, game canceled until I am," and turn that into never playing at all. With all my preparation problems, this game has the virtue of actually being played, and that's a mighty virtue indeed.
