Good news: I had six hours of really strong productivity today.

Bad news: those six hours started at 4pm.

Good news: I fixed a dozen bugs or so.

Bad news: I looked at the change in the size of my bug list from when I last got my list sometime last week. Before updating the list, I had 199 bugs on my list; after making all those fixes and updating, I had 202.

And now it's time to sing

One hundred hairy bugs in the code
One hundred hairy bugs
Fix one bug, compile it again, 101 hairy bugs.
Repeat until BUGS = 0

Number is only one measure of a bug list. Does the picture look any better if you consider severity, difficulty, or time to fix?

At that many bugs, it's hard to get a feeling for how severe and difficult they are en masse.

I still feel pretty good about getting that many bugs off of my plate, mind you.

I'm currently in a mode where I generate bug reports for other people more quickly than I fix my own. Fortunately, others are not doing the same thing simultaneously. :-)
