Lori and I took our cats Louie and Ella to the vet for their annual checkup and shots this evening. Both of them were fairly good in the doctor's office (Ella was especially compliant), but they were vigorously yowling about the drive both to and from the vet.

On the drive back, I quipped, "I'm reminded of the Democrats. Half the occupants of the car are fervently protesting, with no effect on where we're going or who gets stabbed in the back along the way."

I'm betting Reader's Digest won't pay me for this one.

See? If you'd let Duke participate, his vote might have turned things around! :-)

(My cats do the same thing -- protest in transit and cooperate at the vet's office.)

It's all about suppressing the black vote by trying to get some blacks to participate in the process two days later.

And, of course, surpression of that sort only works if you don't go for complete coverage. By allowing Ella (not only black but also a woman!) a timely vote, they deflected attention from Duke. That was well-done on someone's part.
