Tonight, Lori and I saw Point Park's production of Anything Goes. It was an utter delight.

The story has the depth of a pancake, a fluffy bit of whimsy that reminded me of Marx Brothers films.

But the comedy was a hoot, the songs were great, and the dancing was great, and the young actors and actresses in fetching costumes were very sexy. I was particularly impressed with the woman (a sophomore) who played Reno; she was a really good dancer, and had great pipes--I got chills from her start on "I Get No Kick From Champagne".

It's a far cry from last Friday's Finding Neverland, let me tell you.

It's playing through Sunday; I recommend it.

I was in Anything Goes my senior year of highschool. I played a buncha bit parts (I was a sailor, a drunk, and some other things I forget). It's a really fun show, but the cheesiness comes because of Cole Porter more than anything else. IIRC, the musical was written AROUND his songs, not the other way.
