I believe that last night, I bought groceries, got cash back, and left the supermarket without my cash.

I stopped by the supermarket this morning with the faint hope that they might be able to confirm this, and they were friendly but not certain enough to give me more cash. This is reasonable of them.

I take this as confirming evidence (not that I really needed the evidence) that when I felt scattered and frazzled yesterday, I actually was.

It was enough of a loss to make me go by the store with slim expectations, but it certainly qualifies as "nuisance" rather than "catastrophe".
