I have a Plan
Jan. 30th, 2003 10:06 pmI've been working very hard the last few days at finishing up a project at Queria. I don't have any logical explanation for why I'm working so hard when I'm not getting paid--but I really want to finish this.
I have a resolution for my unemployment: I'm going to try hard to act like a professional gaming writer. By this I mean getting up, getting focused, and putting down a thousand words or two per weekday. Without letting myself get distracted by games or TV or the six million and eight ways to distract myself with the Internet.
I don't think I'd really want to be a gaming writer as a way of making a living; being a computer programmer is much more lucrative, and I am more outstanding as a programmer than as a gaming writer. But I would like to have the writing skills and the more important self-discipline such that I could be a gaming writer.
Hmm. I think I will give myself some slack towards counting prep work for my D&D campaign as 'writing'--it wouldn't ever get published, but it would help those skills of discipline.
